Newborn Early Breastfeeding Days.

Have you recently arrived home with your new baby? Often one of the hardest parts of returning home is the responsibility of feeding your baby. Our concern about baby feeding enough, weeing, pooing and then maintaining/loosing their birth weight. It feels huge, can i say overwhelming and although lovely wow what a shock it can be!

If you receive breastfeeding support in the very early days following birth, having a breastfeeding practitioner visit you, managing your expectations, guiding you with breastfeeding positions and correct attachment, you will be sure to have a more comfortable start to your breastfeeding journey.

I feel every parent wishing to breastfeed should aim to have a local practitioner in the background during pregnancy who they will look to call on after birth. I find the very early days in the first 3-5 days being the best time for an in person visit.

Once you have this confidence, your journey should feel less fraught, you may have less anxiety about babys feeding pattern and a realistic expectation so you may relax more and be able to enjoy the first months together.

I would help you with;

Confirming the correct attachment and positoning.

Making sure you are comfortable, and that your baby is feeding effectively.

Discussing and guiding with your babys weight gain.

Answering and advising on any questions you might have.

If you feel an early days breastfeeding visit would be useful for you, please reach out. I am based in Winchmore Hill and happy to visit those in the local areas.
