Birth Doula Services

I fell in love with supporting mothers and their partners during pregnancy and postnatally when I became a mother to our first daughter nine years ago. I work closely with couples through hypnobirthing techniques, relaxations and tools, it helps to really bring in your partner to the pregnancy and many couples suggest this was a wonderful part of my involvement. We cover in detail your birth wishes and discuss every aspect of your concerns and anxieties.

What are the options?

Grace with baby Irie

I provide a 1:1 service for yourself and your birth partner. Whether this is a partner or a family member, we become a private team as your birth support. I would always advise we take a full hypnobirthing course together which is included in the package.

We have four x two hour antenatal sessions together to go through your birth preferences. The first session would be set up as soon as we can after our initial meeting.

The typical on call period is 14 days before your due time until your baby is born. This will be agreed and a contract would be signed stating the dates. I am flexible and would always make sure i do my best to attend even if baby is born earlier than those dates.

Guided hypnosis relaxation before or around 40 weeks.

I will attend your labour and be with you until the first feeding has been established and you are comfortable. Often there is only one person allowed into the postnatal ward so once we are established enough and i feel happy (and have taken photos for you) you are comfortable and baby is feeding then i would leave.

I will then visit you in the first few days of your baby being born and will give you two hours of my support in person, this can be when your milk comes in if you plan to breastfeed. I am a certified Mindful Breastfeeding Practitioner.

You have my on going support via a private Whattsapp group between us for 6 weeks post birth.

FAQ

FAQ: What happens if I am not available on the day you go into labour - this is something I have thought a lot about as I am a mother myself, we all need to have a second plan. I see myself sharing the care and on call time as I have a very good local group of birth doulas who teach hypnobirthing and would be able to support you if need be. This is something we would discuss at the beginning. We would offer to have a joint meeting with you to make sure you feel comfortable with both of us!

There is also the option of having a back up doula which we can discuss.
